The Broadway blockbuster The Addams Family will end its run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on December 31, 2011. The musical, which won the 2010 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Musical, will have played 34 previews and 725 regular performances at the time of closing.
Based on the beloved family of characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams, The Addams Family features a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and a score by Andrew Lippa. The production is directed and designed by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, with creative consultation by Jerry Zaks and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
The Addams Family currently stars Brooke Shields as Morticia, Roger Rees as Gomez, Brad Oscar as Uncle Fester, Rachel Potter as Wednesday, Jackie Hoffman as Grandma, Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, Heidi Blickenstaff as Alice Beineke, Adam Grupper as Mal Beineke and Jesse Swenson as Lucas Beineke. Shields will stay with the show through the final performance.
The national tour of The Addams Family launches on September 15 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts in New Orleans, LA.
